Children Image

In response to a request from St Mark's United Methodist Church for 12 computers to use in their Project Transformation Summer Camp. The program is run by college interns who are interested in exploring ministry. St Mark's United Methodist Church serves as the ministry site and several Tulsa area methodist churches will be providing helpers and people for the kids to read to for 30 minutes a day. They will be serving meals through the TPS Summer Feeding Program. The kids will have reading, craft, computer, music & Bible components every day, 4 days per week, for 7 weeks. We built a special Children Image to be used in the program, with the following educational programs. We are looking for Early Childhood Education Teachers to help us identify Public Domain or Shareware programs for preschool and Kindergarten children, and we are looking for Middle School / High School Teachers to help us identify Domain or Shareware programs for grades 7-12, so that we can extend the current Child 1-6 image to cover all children. If you know Teachers who would be willing to help, have the email don@helpingtulsa.org.

The programs came from:

We are anticipating that the teachers who selected these programs may come up with additional programs during the summer, but the initial CHILDREN.GHO Ghost Image is 581,82,405 bytes long.

Here is what the desktop looks like:

If one clicks on a particular grade, they will see these programs (click any photo to enlarge.

The current Children image takes about 860 mb, but by deleting the installation files, once the programs were installed, I was able to get the image to install onto an 800 meg hard drive, with about 150mb of free space, so if necessary we can use 800 meg drives. However since we are looking for educators who can help us select programs for grades 7 through 12, we usually use 2gig to 4gig drives for the Children image, so that those machines will be able to be upgraded to the full Children image once it becomes available.
