February 2004 Deliveries
In February we distributed 20 computers:
- We provided 1 computer (an
Image Machine) to PC Power, a sister
computer refurbishing project that collects and refurbishs used computers and makes them
available to indigent children, at-risk children, and disabled adults in Northeastern
Oklahoma. We also trained them in how the tools and techniques we have developed in
HelpingTulsa can allow them to save a significant amount of time per refurbished computer.
- We provided 15 computers, NICs, and a Hub to
Vatterott College for use in their networking class. I am amazed that there are schools
that teach networking and do not have computers for the students to use, but this is not the
first time we have provided computers to a school that teaches computer repair and/or
networking, without actually having hardware for the students to use.
- We provided 1 computer to Glenwood Apartments Senior Retirement Community,
to go along with the 5 we provided in
June, 2003
Here
is a picture of the residents using the machines we provided in June.
The residents of Glenwood wanted internet access on the donated computers so much
that they were each willing to pay $3 each month to get a broadband connection that
connected all computers to the Internet.
- We provided an Image Machine
to Robert Craig for use with the 22 monitors
we provided in July 2003 for the
Home of Hope orphanage in Bhadune, Bangladesh
- We provided 2 computers to First Assembly of God, Muldrow, Oklahoma
