YMCA Power Up

VISTA volunteers Kerry Royce and Nathaniel Lewis were instrumental in arranging for HelpingTulsa to donate 12 computers to YMCA Tulsa to be used in their Power Up program whose mission is to bridge the digital divide, involving a focus and commitment to meet the needs of young people in the digital age.

Debra Holman, Americorps Member/Coordinator of Hutcherson YMCA's Power Up computer lab, said: "Just recently HelpingTulsa.org donated several computers to the YMCA. We received one at our location We feel this additional computer has helped to complement our present situation. At present pre-school children are attending the PowerUp computer learning center. Usually the computer center focuses on older children but now we are able to provide a learning center for the younger children. It has been a wonderful opportunity for them. The computer learning center hopefully can help prepare them for when they start school.

I want to express our heartfelt thanks to HelpingTulsa for their wonderful work within our community and their donation to our program."
